CSK coach L Balaji sympathised for Santner.
"I'm very sorry that he is injured. I have undergone so many injuries in my career and I understand how emotionally hard it is for a cricketer to miss a tournament or a big event as well the body has taken a toll. To miss cricket itself is a hard thing for any cricketer who undergoes a lengthy rehab. I wish him speedy recovery. Cricket will always be there. One has to finish this course of time, which is tough and probably one will learn a lot," he added.
Balaji went on to add: "He has a good record in subcontinent and is a developing cricket. He was ranked number one. He is an impactful cricketer and we saw good potential in him even though he has not played IPL. He has been someone who been good for New Zealand with both bat and ball."
Santner, who made his Test debut against in 2015, has played 17 Tests, 53 ODIs and 27 T20Is in the last three years. In his last ODI against England, he scored 67 and claimed a wicket for 44 runs.
